RESEARCH

Das Embedded Systems Lab bietet Forschungsdienstleistungen in den Schwerpunktbereichen AI for Embedded Syste, Embedded Systems und Wearable Computing an:

AI for embedded systems
Embedded AI

Our goal is to make AI algorithms executable on embedded systems and thus enormously multiply the possible applications of AI.

Numerous applications use customized embedded systems that only have limited resources and do not send data to servers in the cloud for cost and privacy reasons. We adapt general AI algorithms to the extent that they provide beneficial results for the respective applications on these resource-limited systems.

Embedded and Mobile Systems

Internet of Things (IoT):
IoT holds vast potential for new applications and products, benefiting both commercial and industrial systems. Research areas encompass sensors, sensor networks, communication technologies, and IoT security. The goal is knowledge transfer to partners and students.

Embedded Systems:
The lab specializes in hardware-software solutions for industrial systems, robots, vehicles, and smart homes. Key focus areas include real-time capabilities, communication protocols, security, and energy-efficient systems.

wearable computing
Wearable Computing

Wearable Computing focuses on wearable embedded systems attached to the body, equipped with sensors to record human motion data. These devices typically transmit data wirelessly to other computer systems for analysis, providing insights into user activities and physiological states.

Smart Textiles can react to their environment or capture environmental influences. There are two main types: passive and active Smart Textiles. Passive textiles change their shape in response to environmental stimuli, such as hydrophilic or hydrophobic textiles. Active smart textiles are equipped with sensors for measuring parameters like temperature or pressure and can communicate with the environment using actuators like LEDs or electric heating coils. Smart textiles combine special electrical characteristics with embedded systems comprising microcontrollers, sensors, or actuators.
